Great Advice for those who have an invention or idea but not sure where to start.
I truly believe the advice I am going to give you is solid advice and straight forward. But most importantly, it is important because I have seen many clients taken for a financial ride. I come across so many people who have been deceived by companies and given really bad advice and in turn has cost the inventor TONS of money.
The majority of inventors that I work with originally come to me for guidance because either they have no idea how to start their invention or idea or they have been working with a company for many months and/or many years with no progress and TONS of money spent.
Keep in mind the average inventor has not been through the invention process before. It is important to know what steps one should take, and in what order to take them. The common issue most new inventors have is that they rush off to a patent attorney, and when they find how much a patent will cost, they put their dreams on the back burner.
Running to get a patent is not a good first step. There really is no need at this point until you do your research. What research? You need to see if your idea is already in the market. Who are you trying to reach with this idea?

My advice… is to seek help.
Find someone or a company who REALLY knows how to bring an idea to life. A company that knows about the Market/Marketing, knows about Prototyping, know about Manufacturing and Sourcing and especially can provide you with the Business Consulting expertise, that you need. Especially if you are a novice.
Most of my current business involves correcting the mistakes that have been made by either the inventor or the companies they hired to help them invent. And unfortunately, most of these mistakes have been VERY COSTLY to the inventor. I know of the common mistakes, because I have made them and more, myself early on in my career. It is heart wrenching to see a client come to me for help knowing they have already invested 10’s of thousands of dollars and nothing to show for it. The good news is, I have helped many clients out of these situations and have seen amazing outcomes and many incredible dreams come true.
So take my advise, do your research and reach out to the right people/company to help you bring your idea to life.
