It’s already Cyber Monday! All of your preparation for the season has led to this one day—at least, that’s what you may believe. The truth is that you still have a few more weeks of sales ahead of you before the season comes to an end. If you’re on top of your game every day, you can seriously increase your sales before Christmas. If that sounds awesome, here’s what you need to do to boost your private label holiday sales:
Create Social Media Ads
‘Tis the season for getting those products in front of potential customers. Social media ads are a great way to do so, because they appear within users’ newsfeeds in between those friend and family posts of Christmas decorations, Thanksgiving wrap-ups, and holiday trips. People are in the spirit when they’re on social media during this time of year, and you can take advantage of that.
Be sure your posts are engaging, helpful, and use clear imagery so that anyone who clicks on your ad will know exactly what they’re getting into. You can improve upon these posts with festive design, like trees, holly, fairy lights, and ornaments, to keep your buyers in the spirit even as they’re clicking through to make a purchase.
Of course, you want to make sure you’re reaching those buyers where they live online, so make sure you know which social media platforms are best for your target audience. You may want to remember that your target market is slightly different at this time of year, as grandparents buy for grandchildren, spouses buy for each other, and friends try to make their loved ones happy. That could affect where you place your ads.
Engage with Social Media Users
One thing you absolutely can’t do at this time of year is set a post and forget it. As we previously mentioned, people are often shopping outside of their comfort zones during this time of year. They will have questions and comments. You can turn that question into a purchase if you’re there to respond in a timely manner.
Be ready with answers regarding your returns policies, how-to instructions and tutorials, prices, and any upgrades you might be able to offer. The more prepared you are, the more likely you’ll be to make the sale.
Offer Free Shipping
Cyber Monday is expected to generate $7.8 billion in sales. This tells us unequivocally that people want to buy online. The problem is that those same buyers are often surprised by shipping costs—surprised enough that they’ll abandon their cart and never complete the purchase.
You can bypass abandoned carts due to shipping sticker shock by offering free shipping for purchases over a certain amount. There are some additional bonuses to this particular model, too. First, that promise of free shipping means buyers are less likely to abandon their carts. Second, because they need to purchase a certain amount to achieve free shipping, you’re likely to sell more products so they can meet the cutoff.
Go After Abandoned Carts
We’ve already covered the importance of going after buyers who abandon their carts, but we simply can’t stress enough how much more money you could make by going through the trouble.
It’s easier than you think. Simply set up an email campaign that reaches out to your buyers an hour after they abandon the cart. Many who navigated away without completing the purchase simply got distracted and will appreciate the reminder. Then, if the buyer still doesn’t return after an hour, send another email after 24 hours. Two more emails at one week and two weeks will bring back up to 90% of the buyers who actually intended to make a purchase.
Be ready with your emails to address potential reasons for the abandonment. If you decide to offer free shipping, provide that promise in your message. You can also provide how-to information and tutorials in case the buyer has questions about how your product works. The more you do to ease the buyer’s mind, the more likely they will be to complete the purchase.
