You’ve heard us say it before: Making a trip to China to the Canton Fair saves you time, money, and headaches when you are sourcing your Private Label products. You skip the endless waiting (hello, time zone difference!) and frustration that goes along with finding suppliers via email on sites like Alibaba and Aliexpress, you get access to over 60,000 reliable suppliers, you’ll see, hold, and handle the hottest new products around, and you’ll make lifelong business connections, while we stick by you every step of the way.
I know what you’re thinking: “It sounds great, but why should I go with PLU? There’s plenty of companies offering trips to the Canton Fair.” That’s true…but not all Private Labeling coaches are created equal!
We have quite a few competitors who are new to the game, and who have no problem taking your hard-earned money with their sub-par training and trips to China. An international business trip of this scale is a major event, so before you book any trip to China, take a look at our list of the essential things you need to know.
Make sure you are going to the right phase of the fair…
The fair is broken up into 3 phases and each phase exhibit different product categories. We can’t tell you how many times we have seen people in other groups attend the fair at the wrong phase. That is a long trip to take to see no success.
Make sure you are going with people who have been to China (not just the Canton Fair) at least 10 times.
You don’t want to be learning from mentors who are just learning themselves. That makes for huge mistakes and carelessness.
Your host should be able to tell you how to navigate the airport, how to get a taxi, what to do if you can’t find your way back to your hotel, if it’s safe to drink the water (we stick to bottled), what to expect when you go to the bathroom, where the best attractions are for sight-seeing. There’s so much your host needs to share with you!
For instance, prior to the trip, you need a Chinese visa to enter the country and an invitation to the fair. Because we have our feet on the ground in China, we arrange for your invitation for your visa and entry into the fair. We also walk you through the process way before you get there. Many companies that host these trips offer zero training prior to flying out. With PLU, there are no surprises.
We have traveled to Asia since the eighties and have attended the Canton fair for decades, even before it was open to the public, and we’ve had the chance to visit many wonderful areas besides just the fair. We know our stuff, and we’ll tell you everything you need to know about China long before your flight ever touches down in Guangzhou.
Make sure you are being mentored by people who have Private Labeled more than 100 different products.
Our competition talks a big game, but how many products have they really had? Do they know the intricacies that come along with sourcing multiple products, or how importing a handheld widget is different than a child’s playset? What about products with hazardous materials such as lithium ion batteries—do they know what you need to declare so these products will be allowed into U.S. port?
Not all products require the same importing and exporting process. Depending on where you are exporting them from and to, you may encounter challenges. If your mentor has private labeled many, many products, they will know how to guide you.
We’ve Private Labeled not hundreds, but tens of thousands of products during our thirty years of experience. We know this business inside and out!
Amazon training gets you nowhere in China.
So many groups taking students to the Canton fair provide Amazon training and masterminding prior to visiting the fair and think that’s all the new sellers require. Let’s be frank here: Amazon training is NOT going to help you in China. In fact, it could be more harmful and even sabotage your success.
Suppliers don’t care that you sell on Amazon; they are more concerned about the business relationship you will build. They want to see how you do business in China and whether you would be a good fit for their growth too. Learning to do business in China comes requires skills and practice, all of which Private Label University has mastered in our 35 years of doing business in Asia. We will teach you all of these things in China, we even give you our personal template and the verbiage you need to know to be successful at the booths in the fair. But we don’t teach Amazon during our China trips. Instead, we focus on the skills you need to succeed in the Canton fair. That is why we have 100% success on our trips.
If you are going to China and the group is masterminding and sharing Amazon tips and strategies, save your time and money and learn that in the USA. That makes for an uneventful, frustrating, and costly venture. Doing business is China is a completely different training, one that we have led for years with HUGE success.
Make sure you are going with people who are well connected with an importing team that can help you.
Sourcing your products, reliable suppliers, and better pricing are the reasons you’re traveling to China, but how do you get them into the U.S. when you’re ready to sell? That’s where your importing team comes in. We’ve seen clients who started with our competition incur hefty fines, and in some cases even have their Amazon stores shut down, because they didn’t import properly.
We’ve got you covered. We teach you exactly what you need to know. And we know; we are well connected with customs and shipping because we’ve been doing this for 3 decades. It doesn’t matter what country you are shipping to or from, we have the answers.
Make sure that they also have staff in China.
We have personally trained our PLU staff in China, and they have been working with us for many years. NO ONE has the connections we have! You need the support of family. When going to another country that speaks a different language and does business entirely differently then you are used to, you need to have the support of a reliable and loyal team.
Our team members are not new to private labeling; neither are they new to the Canton fair. They have been in the PLU family for many years and understand exactly what our students are looking for and how to support them. Again, that is why our students experience 100% success at the fair. DO NOT think for one minute you can go solo in the Canton Fair.
Read the fine details of the Canton trip you want to attend. In most cases, you’ll be on your own at the fair. In other cases, you’ll be with the group for an hour or two.
Remember why you are travelling to the Canton fair? It’s to find products that have not hit the market and low, low prices from reliable suppliers. How can you do that in a group setting? How do you achieve successful business with no international business acumen? You need to be on your own at the Canton fair but not alone. The language, culture and business barriers are huge, not to mention the fair itself. You MUST have a business partner with you who understands private labeling, negotiation, online and retail sales, importing, Mandarin language, and knows exactly how to move around 12,100,000 square feet, and in and out of thousands of booths.
We have been going to the fair for decades and still enter the fair with our personal support team. No other Canton fair trip has a staff that is personally matched up with their students to escort them into the fair. Why? Because they don’t have one to share. They are new to the game.
The most important and most valuable part of the Private Label University Canton Fair experience is having a private PLU team member supporting you in your business for the entire time you are in the fair. This is so important—the key to success. This is critical to success in the fair.
Don’t make the mistake of hiring an interpreter off the street outside the fair (there are tons of them) to fill that spot.
They don’t understand importing and exporting, private labeling, online sales, and, FYI, you are responsible for them. This means it’s your passport that you use to secure their reliability and conduct in the fair. You’ll also need to pay a few hundred dollars a day to get them into the fair. No one tells you this until you try to register them.
Go with the pros who have been doing this in their sleep. We know EXACTLY what you need when you arrive in China. No surprises, nothing not covered. Our goal is your 100% success.
You need to know the system before you go…
You need to understand private labeling. Other programs take your money and say, “Meet you in China!” We give you our online program The Import Success Formula ($1497 value) and provide live webinar training and prep before you even get on that plane. We’ll also help make sure you have everything you need for the trip, including the invitation to the fair and your Chinese visa, accommodations, touring, food, etc.
What happens after the trip?
Again, read the fine details. No one provides post-Canton-fair treatment. We talk a lot about PPS: Perfect product syndrome. As amazing and incredible and successful as you will be at the fair, you will also probably be overwhelmed when you return home. Our support doesn’t stop at the fair. We include 1:1 after-the-fair focus. We spend time taking all the information you obtained from us, our staff, and the fair and create the next step of action with you.
We make sure that when from the time you arrive in China, you don’t even have to think. You’re never alone, you’re safe, and you’re supported the entire time—before, during, and after. Our competition may be a little cheaper, but are they really, in the end? You get what you pay for…or, in this case, you’ll pay, but get nothing in return!
Private Label University has 100% success rate, and a trip to China with us is worth every single penny. But we don’t take everyone. Book a call with us, and let’s talk about how our trip to the Canton Fair can jump start your Private Labeling business toward success!
