Starting and building your private label company comes with many challenges and obstacles, but the biggest one is usually sourcing your product. When you go to the Canton Fair in China with Private Label University, you’re certain to get started on the right foot. If you’ve considered starting off by sourcing from Alibaba or AliExpress, bear in mind that on these sites you’ll be buying from a retailer…at a significant markup. You also have to consider the risk of potential scammers, counterfeiting, deceptive products and more– along with a higher price. Buying direct through suppliers you personally meet at the 2020 Canton Trade Fair is a proven way ensure your long-term success.
How can going to the Canton Fair help my business?
Sourcing products directly from the manufacturer is a game-changer. It’s why we’ve been going to the Canton Fair in Guangzhou since 1989: to support and private label over 800 brands for big-name retailers and small business owners just like you.
There are countless reasons to go to the Canton trade fair for your private label products, but these are the most critical to your business:
- Save time
You’ll save months, if not years, sourcing products at the Canton Fair. China has many manufacturers, but at the Canton Fair, you’ll be able to see them in person while we help you communicate and negotiate in 4 action-packed days. - Save money
Prices are traditionally 60% less at the fair, MOQ are more negotiable, and you gain international business and strategies we only share in China (priceless). - Hands-on Experience
Being able to touch and feel actual products is priceless. You’ll leave each booth with FREE samples, eliminating the need for months of back and forth communication and hundreds of dollars in sample costs. - Vetting a Manufacturer
With our help, build a face-to-face relationship with a reliable manufacturer. This means never having to worry about who you’re dealing with online.
Join us on our 42nd trip to the Canton Fair – the hands-down best place to find the hottest private products and most reliable suppliers. We’ll be with you every step of the way to ensure that your experience is productive – and as stress-free as possible.
Why not go to the Canton Fair in China by myself?
The Canton Fair is huge. There are over 25,000 exhibitors in the 1,700,000.5 square foot exhibition hall of the Canton Fair Complex. Imagine walking around in a room the size of nearly 218 football fields, filled with tens of thousands of vendors, and tens of thousands of buyers. And then there’s the language barrier!
It may be tempting to go to the Canton Fair alone, but we caution against it. Many have tried and failed. What’s the point of going all the way to the Canton Fair and leaving empty-handed? Business owners who travel with Private Label University have a 100% success rate at the Canton Fair. Guangzhou can be overwhelming and confusing, but we apply over 25 years of experience to a process geared toward success.

What about the tariff codes?
What about them?
Did you know that tariff codes have been around and being charged since the beginning of trade and the rise and fall everyday. Tariff codes are NOT NEW. The media has created a puplic scare and awareness of them. They are there to help regulate trade and are not bad or to be avoided.
The good news is so many people don’t understand them and the media is helping to scare new businesses and companies from developing new products because of all the tariff talk.
Why is this good news? Well, it is good for us because it is keeping people away from working with Chinese manufacturers and from the Canton Fair which means less competition doing what I am doing and the suppliers are now so much more eager and willing to work with us then ever before. They are so much more accommodating in lower the quantities you need to order to as low as 100 pieces.
Advantages of going to Canton Fair China:
- MOQs are lower.
- Prices are lower
- Relationships are stronger
- Negotiation powerful
- No competition
So yes good news especially competition part… the competition is staying away as they are too scared to create new product because they they don’t really understand tariff codes. Remember tariffs are not new, have always been there. They are just now the topic of the media.
This is the best time to visit the fair. So many more opportunities.
Clients that go directly to the manufacturer in China get better prices and lower quanitites than sourcing elsewhere and online on sites like alibaba. That is a fact! and why we take advantage each year of going directly to meet suppliers at the canton fair.
Will I be fine if I am attending by myself?
Absolutely YES! You will find that you will be surrounded not only by us during our time together, but also by all the like-minded product entrepreneurs who join the event. Many come with spouses, friends or business partners (see discount) — and plenty travel on their own. New friendships and business relationships develop from this event. Check out our testimonials to see why past attendees rave about the PLU China trip.
What travel documents do I need to visit China?
You will need a valid passport as well as a Chinese Visa. But don’t worry. The process is so simple and in our pre-China trip orientation, we will walk you through the necessary paperwork and provide you with an invitation from our personal company to apply for a Chinese Visa. It takes a few days to a couple of weeks to obtain a visa.
Will I need a special invitation to attend the Canton Fair?
Yes. Our Chinese company would be honored to have you attend with us. We will provide you an invitation to the fair. With this invitation, you can then pre-register for the fair.
Do I need an interpreter for the Canton Fair?
Yes and no. There are many companies who are exhibiting at the fair who will bring English-speaking staff. However, in our 35 plus years of attending the fair, we recommend that you have an interpreter to assist you.
As part of this LIVE event you are paired with a PLU business partner who can speak Chinese to help you with negotiations and communication. They act as an interpreter, but most importantly, they are your business mentor at the fair. They are trained by PLU and understand our entire proprietary process.
What will I be responsible for besides the amount of the Fair?
With a valid invitation, the fair is free. However, you will be responsible for your airfare and hotel room, transportation to the hotel, a few meals, and anything else you wish to purchase. Airfare is very inexpensive to China. Round trip flights typically range from $500 to $1200 US dollars. 4 and 5 star hotels range from $50-500 per night. If you book early, you can find accommodations as low as $30/night.
Want to stay with us at The Langham Place directly across the street from the Fair? Ask us about special rates, which are available for only a limited time. Your admission covers our field trip transportation to the factory and market, as well as lunch.
Is it safe to eat the food and drink the water?
Yes to the food. The food is very safe and very delicious. It is not typical Chinese food you eat in the USA. There are no egg rolls. Everything is made fresh. As for the water, stay away from tap water. When traveling internationally, we recommend using bottled water.
Will there be time to tour the city?
Of course, you will have some time when you are not at the Fair to enjoy the sites. Keep in mind that we will be visiting a local factory and local market on our field trip and hitting some of the beautiful sites.
Is the Canton Fair trip refundable?
Because we are a live event and offer limited seating to this private training, we are not able to offer a refund. However, we do guarantee 100% success in finding products and suppliers or your next event (ticket price) with PLU to China is FREE.
